What game would you be interested in?
Something like Talislanta (it's similar to D&D, but in a way, easier) or would you like a WoD game?

EDIT:

I'm considering running a game, so I'm asking preferences in here so that if people are interested, we can actually Role play... If you're interested please post a reply with what genre/system and game type you prefer and we can discuss it...

we only have a d6, so rping would be very tough

i'll try and come up with a ruleset that runs on just a d6

EDIT: honestly, life as a made up table-top gaming character is impossible without a d20

Actually, there are several game systems that JUST use d6. Tri-Stat X for one example off the top of my currently sleep addled-head.

Too, I've run improv one shot games for special occasions (like Halloween) where I more or less made up a system on the spot but still managed to keep it cohesive and internally sound. Doing something like that with only d6 is simple. Heck, WW games only use d10s. Dogs in the Vineyard uses everything BUT d20s. Aeternal Legends (another favorite) uses just d6s.

But having multiple types of dice is a good thing. (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 are the most commonly used)

edited to add - this should probably go into the OOC subfora.

You know, speaking of Æternal Legends... I would really really enjoy running a game of that.

I know, however (well, strongly suspect), that none of you (barring littlegoth) knows anything about it.

I'll put up some links in the OOC subfora and some ÆL related fiction over in the Serious Talk subfora as well.

a d20 is a 20-sided die.

2d20 would mean roll 2 20-sided dice.
3d6 would mean roll 3 6-sided (traditional) dice.

etc etc

and 2d6+4 means you would roll two six-sided dice, then add 4 to the final result

and if you roll a d20 on your attack roll and it lands on 20, you sometimes do a x3 damage critical. Which for a longsword on a character with 16 strength does 1d8+3 damage three times, for 3d8+9 damage!

(which one of you are true d&d nerds?)

Also: littlegoth (if you're around) the other forum is up for RP (without dice?)

Also: instead of 1d20 you can roll 3d6: that means the critical failure is on a 3 and critical success is on an 18. making them much more rare and normalizing the roll trend (very useful in many instances). Only reason I don't use it in game is because 3 dice are a pain in the butt to use all the time.

Hmm, anyone of you students? or live with students? because if you are, you probably have a texas insturments calculator which has a nice RNG which is great if you dont have your set of dice on you.

The attack backfires! Captain Freedom's shield bounces back, smacking him right in the nose. Red communism springs directly into a counterattack, appointing democrats into office. It's incredibly effective! Everybody gets free healthcare, corporations are backed and safeguarded by government dollars, and welfare remains a consistently great way to waste money.

[I had to.]
